What barriers do people face marrying? People make excuses:
1. I don’t want to get married until I’m 30
2. I don’t want to get married at all
3. I am not getting a good person to marry
4. I can’t marry, I’ve first to pay attention to my career
5. I am not getting a proposal from someone within my age group
6. Oh the man is dark-skinned, Oh the woman is dark-skinned
7. I know looks are not important, but still if we can get a person with a good inside and a good outside……..is there any harm in it. So I’m just waiting for such a person to knock on my door!
8. I’ve not met my Prince Charming yet!
9. Yes I like that person……..but I see him/her as a brother/sister and nothing more than that
10. He has not got enough money
11. I want him/her to have all the four qualities that Holy Prophet SAW said that people seek in a spouse
12. I don’t want to leave the home of my parents
13. Marriage is a huge responsibility…..I’m not ready yet
14. I like that person, but I don’t like the family of that person
15. I’m too young to marry
16. I want to marry , but no one wants to clean my dirty laundry
17. I want to marry him/her but I’m afraid to ask him/her out
So these are simply just a few reasons that have been pointed out. Indeed and indubitably, a person looks for looks! I just ask you; what is more important. Is it to find someone good-looking to marry or to complete half your deen? Indeed marriage is completing half of our deen as said by Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) SAW. Just consider the impact of the phrase : “HALF OUR DEEN”! It’s a tremendous achievement to marry. It’s something that’s so desired in Islam and so highly promoted. You complete half your deen just by marrying….not really, it’s rather the responsibilities that you have to bear after marrying.
So I must say people…….you should please Allah (SWT) rather than pleasing your inner-self. You should want your faith to increase, not the beauty of your spouse. You should be so willing to marry if that person is a good Muslim regardless of his colour, race and wealth………..because by doing so you will complete half of your deen……………..Half of Your Deen.
